her blacks crackle and drag

Part 1

Edge by Sylvia Plath

The woman is perfected
Her dead

Body wears the smile of accomplishment,
The illusion of a Greek necessity

Flows in the scrolls of her toga,
Her bare

Feet seem to be saying:
We have come so far, it is over.

Each dead child coiled, a white serpent,
One at each little

Pitcher of milk, now empty
She has folded

Them back into her body as petals
Of a rose close when the garden

Stiffens and odors bleed
From the sweet, deep throats of the night flower.

The moon has nothing to be sad about,
Staring from her hood of bone.

She is used to this sort of thing.
Her blacks crackle and drag.

I couldnt sleep so at midnight I took a bunch of pictures in a maxi dress that used to be grandmas's.

Part 2
I got bored so I drew on some of my crappier polaroids.

I play field hockey too... I love the sport, but hate the time it takes up. Cool gloves. You remind me of the character Lily in "The Secret Garden the Musical" which you probably haven't seen (nobody really has). Your polaroids that you drew on look sooo cool that way!

That is a fantastic dress, and the photographs are quite lovely.
If you like the poetry of Sylvia Plath, I really recommend reading her journals. They really made an impact on my life, and even her most casual prose is beautifully written.

The white dress is divine! Is it a weeding dress? If not, it could be with those amazing gloves. Very beautiful.

Wonderful entry too; I'd love to enter, but I'm Canadian. You'll go far in the contest, a lot of the entries aren't good. :P
